Dick Wolf Donates $10 Million to Bar Harbor Hospital’s Future

Get this, the legendary TV producer Dick Wolf, you know, the guy who created Law & Order and Chicago franchises, has pledged $10 million to Mount Desert Island Hospital towards their Building Our Future campaign, according to WMTW.

That folks, is the largest individual gift in the hospitals history, like ever.  

The $55 million campaign is centered around transforming the hospitals entire campus in Bar Harbor, according to the article. 

They also want to triple the size of the emergency department, create a new Main Street entrance, modernize the surgical units, and add a more flexible space.  

Chris Maguire, the President and CEO of MDI Hospital says,  

“This gift not only advances our vision for a modern, patient-centered campus, it inspires others to join us in building a healthier future for our island community.”

Here's some background on Dick Wolf. He has created more then 2,500 hours of TV and he says that the impact the hospital has had on the community is why he wants to help and give back saying,  

“MDI Hospital is a cornerstone of this community. I’m proud to help ensure that the people of Mount Desert Island and beyond have access to the best possible care, now, and for generations to come,”

They would like construction on this 42,600 square foot project to be completed by 2028 as per the article.
