Come Celebrate the Maine Little League Team at the Parade Sunday
These boys deserve some recognition for what they accomplished this year.
You can help celebrate the members of the Gray-New Gloucester/Raymond baseball all-stars who played in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. It was the first time a team from Maine won the New England regional championship in 18 years. That led them to the Little League World Series. The Little League World Series was a double elimination series. The team lost both games, but played great. The championship game is Saturday between the Texas Little Leaguers from Needville, who will face either California, Tennessee, or Washington in Saturday's national title game. The Texas team remains the only undefeated team from the United States.
Where's the parade?
The parade will start at 3:30 p.m. at the former Cole Farms Restaurant at 64 Lewiston Road in Gray. It's a great starting point with lots of space for parade participants to gather. Then it will head down Route 202 along Main Street. It all winds up at the Douglas Little League Field in the center of Gray.
The players will then meet the fans with photographs and autographs as part of a meet-and-greet until 5:30 p.m. How cute is that?
The Portland Press Herald did a fantastic article highlighting each of the 14 boys on the team, and the bios on each are so sweet. You'll learn their favorite food (tacos were super popular), and their favorite athlete. Come cheer on this team and their amazing journey!
