The City of Portland has a problem on their hands and are set to take measures to solve it, which might cause your car to end up being towed.

The City of Portland pushed out a notification Monday afternoon to those who have signed up to get alerts from the city, reminding them that they cannot park on streets with signs designatingng no parking overnight on certain days of the week. These are street maintenance parking restrictions in place for street sweeping and snow cleanup. Certain streets in downtown Portland will have signs like this one notifying drivers of the parking restrictions.

The signs say that vehicles will be towed, but in most cases, they are just ticketed for a fee of $35. But now the city is at crunch time and is going to start towing vehicles because winter is coming.

"City staff are running out of time to sweep and remove leaves before winter," the alert reads. "Failure to comply usually results in ticketing, but the City is now warning that cars are subject to towing. When cars do not move, City street sweeping machines are not able to sweep to the curb and instead are forced to try to maneuver around vehicles or go down the middle of the street. This ends up leaving additional debris and leaves near the curb and clogging storm drains."

Street maintenance parking restrictions are typically Tuesday and Wednesday from 12:01 a.m. to 7 a.m. so you need to have your car off the streets in these designated areas by midnight or you could find it missing the next day and at the city impound lot where you'll be paying at least $100 for the tow and parking ticket fees.
