Can You Find a Piano in a Portland, Maine, Park? There Are Clues to Help
Portland Parks and Rec is again placing a piano somewhere in a park in Portland and leaving clues on social media to find and play it.
To be honest, the clues are pretty easy. It's really about getting outside, exploring Portland's parks and having fun playing piano, even if you can only play chopsticks.
To this day I can still play the first few notes of the Pink Panther theme on the piano that I was taught by my babysitter when I was young.
That and a few lines of Caesar's speech at Gaul that I had to memorize during my freshman year of high school have stuck with me, but I can't remember where I left my phone. Anyway, back to the piano.
Each week the piano, which is provided by Starbird Piano Gallery on Forest Avenue in Portland, gets moved to a different park and is there for one to three days, depending on the weather.
Each week, clues are posted on Portland Parks and Recreation Department's Facebook and Instagram pages. This is week 2 of Piano in the Park and the clue is: "The piano is located in a covered location where the Pride Parade ends on Saturday."
If you find the piano, which I think you probably will, Portland Parks and Rec encourages you to take a photo and share it with them on their Facebook and Instagram pages, or email it to parks@portlandmaine.gov.
Once you find it, you just might want to hang around for a while to see who else stumbles upon it and what they decide to play.
