Best Sunsets on the Massachusetts North Shore Pop Up at This Hidden Gem Restaurant
Sunsets are romantic, pleasing to watch, and calming, so why wouldn't you want to find the absolute best spots to watch them in New England?
Considering we live on the East Coast, our sunrises are spectacular, and easy to see. However, sunsets are a little trickier to find the best spots because we generally face the ocean to the east.
There are a few stunning places tucked away and actually facing west, one of which is in Rockport, Massachusetts.
Rockport, home to the famous Bearskin Neck, is also known locally for this no-fuss, in-the-rough seafood shack. It's called The Lobster Pool at 329 Granite Street, down the road from Halibut Point State Park.
For many years, Rockport was a dry town, and didn't serve alcohol. Years ago, The Lobster Pool allowed BYOB because so many people came to the seafood shack to watch the gorgeous sunsets. At The Lobster Pool, you can still BYOB, though Rockport is no longer a dry town.
Sometimes there will be a solo guitarist/vocalist singing songs as the sun sets over the cliffs and dips to the ocean line. These moments are enjoyable, as the R&R of being in an ocean community sinks into your bones. Acoustic music, delicious seafood, and an extraordinary sunset make for a very memorable evening dinner.
The sunsets change colors in the sky as the seasons change, so you can view different hues depending on the time of year. The Lobster Pool is seasonal, but you can still watch the sunset from the parking lot, because in case you haven't heard...sunsets are free.
