Best Place to Have a Baby is Right Here in New England
What is the Best State to Have a Baby?
If you are looking for the best state to have a baby, you are in luck if you live in New England. Turns out in a recent study by wallethub.com, three New England states made the top 5.
The number one spot? That goes to Massachusetts.
Vermont and New Hampshire Also Ranked High
The wallethub.com study looked at a variety of factors. New Hampshire rated number 2 in the lowest cost cesarean delivery charges if you are looking to save some cash on delivery.
My daughter delivered a baby in New Jersey 6 months ago via c-section and the bill was astronomical. Fortunately, insurance covered a lot of it, but OMG babies are getting expensive!
If you are going to have a baby the conventional way, New Hampshire still ranks number 2 in cost.
The lowest infant mortality rate is in Vermont followed by New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
What makes Massachusetts rated so high?
The wallethub.com study looked at other factors including baby and family friendliness which is rough during a pandemic.
I know my wife couldn’t go to the hospital for the delivery of our grandchild and she was beside herself with worry. Family friendliness would be high on her category next time.
The study also looked at access to childcare facilities and the number of pediatricians per baby in each state.
All things to keep in mind since my son and his girlfriend are expecting in February. Happy babies are the best.
