Berwick Car Show Will Feature WWII Era Gift
The 5th Annual Berwick Car Show is this Sunday from 8 to 2.
Dozens of classic vehicles of all makes and models will be showcased this Sunday at the Berwick Car Show, Sullivan St., just over the bridge.
One of the vehicles that will be featured has quite the story behind it.
Technical Sergeant Carl Raymond Chapman, a local WWII hero, bought his first and only car right after graduating from Spaulding High School - a brand new 1936 2-door Deluxe Ford for the list price of $590.
Sadly, Carl was killed in action in 1944 in Normandy, France.
Fast forward to 1967, when his son, Carl Chapman Jr. received the car from his grandfather as a wedding present. He had been storing it for several years, unbeknownst to Carl Jr.
All these years later, Carl Jr. still owns it! Be sure to check it out this Sunday at the car show.
