Officials say your chances of an encounter are greater this year. Here's why.

In a normal summer in New Hampshire, the peak chances of an encounter with a bear have already passed. However, this is no normal summer.

There's an exceptionally low food supply for them. Soft crops such as blueberries and raspberries haven't done well this year, which is forcing them to venture out looking for other ways to fill their bellies.

Chances of running into a bear are even greater in the White Mountain National Forest. So if you're planning on camping there anytime soon, remember to put all of your food away at night!
