Bar Harbor Will Have Service To Boston This Year Thanks To Silver Air
After Alaska-based PenAir said that it would not renew its Bar Harbor contract last year, they were left with just one carrier, Cape Air to continue flights to and from Boston. That was until Silver Air, based out of Fort Lauderdale stepped in to fill the void from May 23 to Sept. 3, the busiest time of Mount Desert Island’s tourist season, the BDN reports.
According to the article, Brad Madeira, the airport’s manager said Silver Air performed exceptionally well without any man made delays caused by problems such as airplane maintenance, other equipment malfunctions or crew shortages.
The article says Silver Air's overall completion rate came in at almost 100%, with only a few of flights being delayed or canceled due to weather or other uncontrollable factors, Madeira said.
Last year, Silver Air carried close to 3,000 passengers on the Bar Harbor to Boston route in July 2018 and over 3,000 in August, the Bangor Daily News reports.
