Bangor, Maine, Veteran Receives Life-Changing Gift of a New Home
Daniel Farrow of Bangor is a United States Marine Corps Veteran who got the surprise of a lifetime when he was handed the keys to a new home.
Farrow entered an essay contest from Maine Woods Townhomes and got the news on Veteran's Day Weekend that he won.
Watch the moment that the Farrow family got the news.
According to his essay, Daniel and his wife Marie were married in September of 2023. They have a son, both work, and Marie is pursuing her MBA through the University of Maine at Augusta. Farrow wrote in his essay, “Of all the blessings, mine would be the greatest of all; I would get to watch as my family’s dreams come true around me.”
Fittingly, on Valentine's Day, the Farrow family were handed the keys to their new home as they stood in the kitchen with the owner of the Maine Woods Subdivision, Emily Ellis.
A lot of local businesses pitched in to make this moment happen, including Ron’s Moving & Storage, Dunnett Appliance, and Hammond Lumber.
The Maine Woods Subdivision is a development being built off Lancaster Avenue in Bangor, near Essex Woods & Bangor Dog Park. Once finished, it will have thirty duplexes, each with two three-bedroom and two-bath townhouses, with fiber internet connectivity and lawn care and snowplowing provided for all residents. The Maine Veterans’ Home and the Career Center Veterans Services are both nearby, offering specialized support and resources for veterans.
It's so great to see a community come together to make the dreams of veterans and their families come true. They give so much for their country, and Mainers are eager to help by giving back to thank them for their service.
