Augusta Schools Discussing Possibility Of Returning To Remote Lea

The latest school board meeting for Augusta brought up the topic of possibly considering returning to remote learning should Covid-19 number continue to increase according to a report by centralmaine.com

Although not being enacted at this time, the Augusta school board did indicate that they are prepared to switch to remote learning should they need to.

With over 2200 students enrolled in Augusta schools this year, making the switch to a remote learning model would not be ideal according to the Augusta Superintendent, James Anastasio. In addition, he indicated that the Augusta school board in not actively considering a remote learning model at this time.

There are close to 20 positive Covid-19 cases across the Augusta school district with cases noted at each Augusta Public School building between staff and students.

The main focus for now will continue to focus on prevention and containment. Superintendent Anastasio also feels with the increase of vaccinated teachers, staffing issues that effected the school district last year should be reduced which would allow for more in class teaching.
