Deposits and refund values for bottles and cans could increase from 5 cents to 25 cents in Maine, according to WGME. There’s currently a bill on the table that was discussed at a public hearing in Augusta on Wednesday morning. WGME says the bill, LD 87, is being sponsored by Representative Pinny Beebe-Center.

Wine and spirits are reportedly exempt from this increase.

Is this increase a good idea? Even though we get the money back if we recycle, are you willing to pay that much for soda and other liquids that come in bottles and cans? Would you give up your favorite beverage if this bill is passed? Let us know what you think in the comment section below or on our Facebook page.
