Mainers React to Palace Playland’s Extreme April Fools Joke
It's finally April in Maine and of course another year where our favorite people and places are going to attempt to fool us. Palace Playland did just that and here's how it went.
Many of us were not fooled by this post, but a small few, including myself went from ecstasy to agony thinking it was legitimate.
Palace Playland had a bit of fun and most of you responded with a laugh and “nice try.”
The epic Old Orchard Beach amusement park took to their page with a very bold and may we say extreme announcement saying they were expanding their water rides into the actually Atlantic Ocean.
The new attraction is called: “Wave Pool Extreme”
No walls or limits, just the ocean doing it’s thing.
Also with a subtle disclaimer that season passes would not include shark negotiations. So if you read the fine print, you get it, but if you did what I did and quickly glanced at it, you took it seriously.
Now, if you’ve ever been to Maine, or spoken to a Mainer, you already know how this went.
Most people weren’t exactly fooled.
But for those of us who were, you’re scrolling in the chamber of secrets (the bathroom) you're half-awake and you think, “Wait… that’s actually kind of awesome?”
So your brain goes to summer mode, picturing it and then.. reality sets in, "Oh, right. It's April 1st."
The emotional roller-coaster! But it’s all in good fun and for those of us that did get fooled, we tip our hats to you Palace Playland!
Honestly it’s part of the tradition at this point. And while Palace Playland’s joke didn’t exactly trick the masses, it definitely got people talking.
Check out all of the real amusements Palace Playland has in store this season on their website now.
Because let’s be honest, it was funny. Absurd enough to raise the old eyebrow, but also believable enough to make you pause for a second.
