Another Portland Restaurant Closes It Doors
It seems like we're seeing this headline far too often: another Portland area restaurant is closing for good because of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to CBS 13, Lio Restaurant has announced that it's shutting its doors due to phase two of the pandemic and colder temperatures. They will not be able to maintain outside seating. They announced the news on their website, which they said this.
"Dear Friends, Family, and Guests – It is with much sadness that we announce the permanent closure of Lio Restaurant. We were unable to weather the pandemic without some rent relief, and with the decreasing temperatures and increasing COVID cases, can find no viable way forward. We hope our food and wine brought some small moments of joy to you during these difficult times, a reminder of the simple pleasure of a shared meal with the hope for better times to come."
Of course, they want to go out with a bang as their food is very unique, but they're having a blowout half-off wine sale, which they also announced on their website. I'm sure that the line will be wrapped around the corner.
Lio joins the growing list of Cumberland county area restaurants that have closed since the pandemic, such as the Arabica Coffee (Commercial Street location), Miller Brothers Seafood, and Uncle Andy's.
All of these places have been Portland staples, and they may be gone, but they won't be forgotten, and hopefully, after the pandemic, there will be new opportunities for new restaurants to impact our lives in a positive way.
