A Group Of College Students Decorated Downtown Biddeford For Christmas (And Did Some Good, Too)
Can we get more of this, please? CAN WE GET ALL OF THIS, PLEASE?
Man, I LOVE this story. I feel like 95 out of every 100 people are embracing the Christmas Spirit a little bit early and a little bit extra this year. I don't know if it's to will the end of 2020 quicker, or if everyone realizes we've all gone THROUGH IT this year and we just need to flip the script and get more positivity and love out into the universe, but whatever the reason -- I'M SO HERE FOR THIS.
Sure, listening to Christmas music during a "heat wave" (warming trend?) of 70-degree weather seems weird, but it's hitting different this year. Driving into work this morning, I saw SO many Christmas displays already out. Porches lit up, Santas in front yards, Christmas trees through living room windows (for the record, I'm not going all Peeping Tom looking -- it's just one of those picturesque scenes -- you know the ones I mean.) My social media feeds were lit up (pun intended) with pictures and videos of people displaying their decorations.
Also lit up? Downtown Biddeford, thanks to a group of University of New England students, who decided to embrace the spirit and string up Christmas lights in the area.
According to Channel 8 WMTW, it was in partnership with Heart of Biddeford, a volunteer-based organization focused on improving the qualify of life in Downtown Biddeford. The UNE students and Heart of Biddeford members also put together care packages for people in need, too, which will be distributed to those in need by the Biddeford resource center Seeds Of Hope, the news station reported.
Can we just all do something like this? Just all blow the Christmas Spirit to new levels, spread joy and positivity and love? We've been at each other's throats for a while now -- can we switch it up? Now excuse me, because based on this article and the desire for positivity, joy, and love, I feel like I need to go hug a tree or something.
