8 Items That You Cannot Bring Into the Maine State House
We all know security is tight at government buildings across the United States. Ever since 9-11, we've beefed up security everywhere to make sure government employees, senators, representatives, and visitors to these public buildings are safe.
Maine's State House is also adequately secured to keep those in the building safe. To help do that, there is a list of 8 things that you cannot bring into the State House as it could pose a threat to security.
Weapons of any kind are not allowed on State property in Augusta, but 8 things are specifically prohibited from the State House. They will not be allowed in the building even if you are required to undergo screening measures.
1. Firearms
Firearms including replica guns and ammunition are not allowed.
2. Weapons
Weapons not allowed in the State House include but are not limited to: Black-jack, slingshot, sand club, sandbag, knuckles, electric stun guns, knives of any size including razors and box cutters, martial arts weapons, or devices.
3. Paint or pellet guns
4. Fireworks
Fireworks, firecrackers, sparklers, or other incendiary devices are not allowed inside the State House
5. Compressed flammable or helium gasses
6. Flammable liquids

7. Alcoholic beverages
Who goes to the State House with a beer in their hand?
8. Illegal drugs or substances
According to Capitol Police, some other substances or items could reasonably present a significant risk to people or property in the State House environment, including but not limited to:
- Pointed objects to include but not limited to knitting needles, letter openers, scissors, and other pointed objects deemed a possible threat
- Explosives and explosive devices to include components of a destructive device.
- Aerosol containers
- Signs on posts or sticks
- Rope or chains
- Glass containers (unless there is a specific need/purpose)
- Other implements which by their nature are capable of being used to injure a person or destroy property.
So there you have it. Every person who enters is checked over so don't bring any of these items into the State House in Augusta or you will be asked to promptly leave or maybe worse if you have these items on you.
