30-Year-Old Portland Landmark to Be Demolished
The mural on the side of the building that currently houses The Grill Room at 80 Exchange Street will be demolished in the coming months as part of an $80 million renovation, expected to be completed by Labor Day.
The mural was painted in 1985 by local artist Chris Denison. It's a representation of the old U.S. postal building that used to be across Exchange Street on what is now Post Office Park.
Plans are already in the works to replace the mural with a new one once the multi million dollar project is complete.
