18-Year-Old UMaine Football Player’s Autopsy Shows He Died Naturally
It is absolutely heartbreaking to hear about a young life cut so short, not to mention SCARY! When we hear about a young person dying suddenly, we want answers. Was it drug related? Was it by their own hand? Were they sick and didn't know it? In the case of the 18-year-old UMaine athlete, we finally have answers.
On July 24th, Minor Darius Minor was participating in a preseason workout on campus when he suddenly collapsed. First responders and training staff attempted to resuscitate him but were unable to.
According to Boston.com, an autopsy shows that Minor died from an acute aortic dissection, which is a rare heart condition. It is assumed that his condition was not diagnosed by his doctor because he was required to pass a physical exam before starting to train for the season.
I can't imagine the devastation his friends and family must be feeling. No explanation can heal the loss and pain from losing someone so young. My heart goes out to all who knew and love him.
