There's no doubt that people in the service industry are some of the hardest working people out there and are often taken for granted. They work long hours, are constantly on the go, have to deal with every type of customer imaginable, and do it all with a smile.

As a rule, I always tip at least 20% of the bill, more if it was exceptionally good service, and I'm pretty frugal with my money. I especially love it when the restaurant or bar already does the math for you by giving you suggested tips. I suck at math. These tips are often times part of wait staff's pay and are crucial for them to earn a living wage.
