There's a method to bagging groceries. Cans go on the bottom, then boxes, bread and eggs on top. I still remember from my teenage years as a bagger at Shop 'N Save. Today, there is an actual competition to find Maine's best bagger and that competition is fierce!

22-year-old Alex Matos of South Portland was crowned the champ last week in the fourth annual MGFPA, in partnership with the Good Shepherd Food Bank. Her speed and attention to detail earned her the title.

Now, Alex goes to the big dance in March in Las Vegas for the 2018 National Championship. She could take home $10,000!

Next time you're at Shaw's on Payne Road in Scarborough, ask for the Maine Champ to bag up your groceries. Congratulations Alex!
