Mattel should really be ashamed of themselves.

This week, the news hit that Mattel will be releasing new barbie dolls, in a variety of shapes sizes, and colors. Time Magazine did a great story that is worth the read.

I think it's wonderful that Mattel is now making Barbies that are a better likeness of normal people. The classic Barbie look is one that many little girls could never achieve, no matter how hard they tried.

But here's what really bothers me about this -- why did it take them so long? It's 2016! They really should have done this a long time ago. For years, parents have been asking for Barbie to look much more realistic. But until now, nothing was done about it. I feel like this should have happened 10, 20, even 30 years ago.

Unfortunately, the change comes to little too late for me. My daughters, 6 and 8 years old, love to play with dolls, but not Barbies. I just don't want them to develop an unrealistic sense of beauty. And while I applaud Mattel's latest move, I really wish that it had come sooner.
