It's not that I don't love or appreciate science or even the human body, it's just that I'm not sure how I feel about the human body as art.

And when I say that I do mean it quite literally. The new Portland Science Center is up and running today and I could not be more excited. To finally have a science museum here in Portland is a very exciting thing, and I can't wait for all the exhibits that will be coming through! Their first exhibit, however, gave me quite a bit of trepidation.

Body Worldswhile an incredibly popular exhibit is definitely not for those with a weak stomach. It is a display of actual human remains used to showcase the beauty of the human body as well as highlight lifestyle choices and how they affect the body.

It's a great concept for sure, but I personally had a really tough time with this. Initially, all I could think was some poor kid was going to go through the exhibit and realize they were looking at Aunt Suzy!  But the bodies are anonymous and all participants had volunteered to donate their bodies to the exhibit after their deaths.

Full disclosure, I was a bit nauseous through most of the exhibit... it was like 8th grade biology class all over again with the frog dissection nightmare of 1996... don't ask, just know it was terrible.

All that being said I managed to make it through and as you can see from the video, I didn't end up hurling all over the soccer player! AJ on the other hand, LOVED this exhibit so... I guess it just depends on the strength of your stomach.
