This Christmas Grinch Stole Nearly $2,000 from the Sanford Salvation Army

Stealing on Christmas Eve? That's landing you on Santa's naughty list.

Turns out, a real-life Grinch decided to break into the Salvation Army in Sanford sometime between Dec. 24 and Dec. 25 and steal $1,700 in cash, according to WGME.

The news station reported that the thief used their own tools and tools in the building to break open the backdoor and then the safe containing the money.

"Salvation Army officials say the money in the safe was collected during their Red Kettles campaign," WGME stated.

You're probably familiar with the Red Kettle campaign and seeing volunteers ringing their bells outside businesses as people passing by place money in the kettles, most often red. The donations are used to help those less fortunate.

So for someone to steal that? Not cool at all. Hopefully, police can find out who did it and get the money back.
