For a fascinating look at the city of Portland as seen through the eyes and lenses of six Portland photographers. "The City" features shots from Nicholas Gervin, who is known for his no-holds barred street photography, along with Corey Templeton, Ben McCanna, Liz Bieber, Jonathan Cooper and John Duncan. Photographers will be on hand to talk about their work during the First Friday opening reception.

SUMMERTIME SOCIAL

The Cancer Community Center cordially invites you to a high-flying fundraiser to benefit people living with cancer. The soirée includes dancing to classic and modern rock from The Loose Threads, hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar by Kitchen Chicks Catering, Sushi Maine and Love Kupcakes, a live auction and raffle drawings.

SEASHORE TROLLEY DOG DAY

Here's one time that you won't need to leave your faithful canine companion at home when you go to do something fun. Dog Day is an annual gathering at the Seashore Trolley Museum where tails are wagging at full speed. The day includes a Blessing of the Dogs, demos, info and products for sale from dog-related organizations and businesses, demonstrations by the Capable Canine, dog adoptions from the Animal Welfare Society and Lucky Pup Rescue, and a book singing for "Gooch's Pooche: The Dogs of Kennebunk Beach" by photographer Robert Dennis and editor Annette Hall Quezada. And best of all, you AND your pooch can ride the vintage streetcars, check out the exhibits and visit the museum store.

NEW HAMPSHIRE

Saturday, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Bring the whole family to Rochester's Skyhaven Airport for their 5th Annual Wings and Wheels show. The show is a benefit for Gerry's Food Pantry. Thousands of people come from all over to check out some cool classic, antique, hot rod and custom cars, motorcycles and aircraft. The event will feature thrilling plane and helicopter rides, including free plane rides for kids ages 8-17.

The 32nd Annual WOKQ Chowder Festival will be held this weekend at Prescott Park in Portsmouth. A kickoff to the Prescott Park Arts Festival's amazing season, this annual events draws seafood lovers to the park to taste plenty of local chowders and listen to live music. This taste-testing affair has become a staple for the season, and a New England institution for chowder lovers.

The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department encourages the public to take advantage of Free Fishing Day on Saturday. The day allows both state residents and non-residents to fish anywhere in New Hampshire without a license for the day. This is a great opportunity to bring your kids out to a favorite lake, stream, river or - go for it - head to the ocean - and bring the whole family out for a day they'll never forget.
