The BEST College Dorm Checklist

Are you heading to college? Is your son or daughter leaving the nest? Here is the BEST college dorm checklist of what you need before you go. 

I remember waking scared and excited my first day of college. Surrounded by lamps, hangers and yes, a word processor. Things have changed a lot since the '90s. I complied a list to help ease the culture shock for you or your instant adult. I sat down for a quick chat with two of my friend's daughters going into their Sophomore year in college and here's what they wish they had known.

The first thing the girls said? "GET AN EGG CRATE MATTRESS TOPPER!" Most mattresses are pretty uncomfortable. I got the coupon above from Bed Bath & Beyond recently so be on the look out for yours! Another tip "Command Wall Hooks." A lot of dorms have strict policy that there be no holes or tape on the walls. These damage free hooks are perfect for posters or wall hangings. "Plastic Hangers." One of the girls thought there would already be some there. She was wrong, the other just laid her clothes in the back of the car already hung up to be easily stowed in the closest upon arrival. Under Bed Storage Bins: Both girls found these super helpful. One of the girls stashed her Ramen Noodles which not surprisingly is on the list as well.

RAMEN, SOUP, POPCORN, BOTTLED WATER, MAC N CHEESE, OATMEAL, HOT CHOCOLATE.
