On April 11th, the cost of unlimited admission at the Portland Museum Of Art will be free for anyone 21 or younger, thanks to “the vision and generosity” of donor Susie Konkel, who is a philanthropist and youth advocate in Maine.

Museum administrators announced the new admission policy in an email Monday afternoon, which includes the option to sign up for the Susie Konkel pass that would allow visitors chances to attend special events including select free screenings of Portland Museum Films, and more. You can pre-register for the pass here.

In her email, Konkel talks about her vision of removing admission costs and how it will result in freedom at the PMA for young people and their families, giving teens, students and young adults a safe, inspirational place to hang out. A place where new Mainers will immediately feel a part of their community, and a place where low income families can bring their children to explore the arts and get inspired.
