A 17-year-old teen died and 22 other people suffered serious injuries Saturday night after the Gauntlet Haunted Night Ride at Pumpkin Land in Mechanic Falls was involved in an accident, according to WMTW.

The Portland television news station reported Sunday the Maine State Fire Marshal's office confirmed that a 17-year-old girl was killed when the tractor-pulled wagon overturned somewhere in the woods around 9 p.m. The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department told the television station 15 people were taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, seven people were taken to St. Mary's hospital in Lewiston and one person was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland,

John Wallace, a Pumpkin Land spokesman, told WMTW, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured and their families,” in a prepared statement. Wallace added the hayride is a separate business on the property and that Pumpkin Land and all events at Harvest Hill Farms will be closed Sunday.
