Salem, Massachusetts has plenty to do for a day or weekend. It has been years since I had spent any time in Salem. Going to the House of Seven Gables as a kid still sticks in my mind as a really cool adventure. My husband had never been there, so we decided to take a road trip to Salem.

Salem is a town rich in shipping and colonial history. If you love maritime history, a stop at the Salem Maritime National Historic Site is a must.  The kids will love it too.  There are stops along the wharf out to the lighthouse for them to play and learn.
