Pumpkin Shortage May Mean No Pie For Thanksgiving!

I've been saying for weeks that this Pumpkin spice fad is madness and now we're could be faced with a serious shortage!

Pumpkin beer, pumpkin donuts, pumpkin coffee, pumpkin bread! With all the demand for pumpkin everything, there are reports that we're going to run out soon. And you know what that means... NO PUMPKIN PIE FOR THANKSGIVING!

That's right. All you pumpkin fiends have created a demand that can't be supplied! And for the first time we could actually run out of pumpkin pie filling. About 90% of the pumpkins in America come from central Illinois, and the crop is down almost one third this year because of records amounts of rain in June.  Meanwhile, demand is as high as ever.

So if you're like me and you like your pumpkin where it belongs... in pie, then you better head to nearest grocery store and stock up! And for heaven sake's... lay off the pie maddness will ya?

**UPDATE, full disclosure: I totally made pumpkin chocolate chip cookies for AJ... I regret nothing and pumpkins are delicious.
