Patriots Win Super Bowl Title with Goal Line Interception! [PHOTOS]
The New England Patriots won their fourth Super Bowl championship Sunday night after they came up with an improbable goal line interception with 20 seconds left in regulation to defeat the Seattle Seahawks, 28-24.
The Patriots clung to a four point lead after overcoming a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl 49. Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson drove his team down to the six yard line after Seahawks receiver Jermaine Kearse made an unbelievable catch where he managed to catch the ball after the play had been broken up by the Patriots and he ended up with the football after falling to the ground.
For Patriots fans, that catch had New York Giants' David Tyree written all over it. But just as it looked as if the Seahawks had the game sewn up, Wilson made a critical mistake when he chose to throw a quick slant pass that was picked off by Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler.
Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady finished with four touchdowns, two interceptions and passed for 328 yards. He was named the MVP of Super Bowl 49. In true Brady style, he led the Patriots back with 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter with his team down, 24-14, Brady set an NFL record by being the first NFL quarterback to play in six Super Bowls.
Now he joins the elite company of San Francisco 49ers Quarterback Joe Montana, Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback Terry Bradshaw as the only three quarterbacks to win four Super Bowl titles.
