Looking for a new job can be tough. It's almost a full time job. Maine Career Center announced this week that there are now over 7,100 openings at it's website mainecareercenter.com. Here are some tips to help with that job search.

Whether you're a recent college grad or older worker, using online resources is now essential in a job search. Some of the websites that you'll want to check out include:

  1. Maine Career Centers - The Maine Job Bank includes a custom matching system that connects the requirements of the job opening with the skills and experience of a job seeker. Job seekers who register for a free account will be able to add their resume, enter their skills and experience, and create email alerts to receive jobs that are the closest match to their profile.
  2. Linkedin - This is a great way to connect with people you have worked with in the past and people in your career field.
  3. CareerOneStop - This website was created by the U.S. Department of Labor.  It gives some very usable advice on the do's and don'ts of the on-line job search.
  4. Google Blog Search - Follow bloggers who write about your field of interest.  Perhaps, start your own blog focusing on your area of expertise.  You may capture the interest of a future employer.

Stay positive and keep chugging away. You'll find that job that suits you well.
