When I think of Freeport I think of shopping, not hooting and hollering house parties. Some neighbors are complaining that those noisy parties have become too common and disruptive due to homes being rented out on a short term basis. Some of those homes are being rented out for bachelor parties and get togethers that end up being too rowdy for the neighbors, who want to enjoy their summer with the windows open.

According to the Portland Press Herald, Freeport is now considering a Loitering, Curfew & Noise amendment that would more than double noise violation fines to property owners and people responsible for the noise. The first violation in a one year period would be between $250 and $500, subsequent fines would at least double that of the first fine.
