Looking for something to do with the family on Saturday? It's Free Fishing Day and Hatchery Open House Day in New Hampshire this Saturday, June 7. Fish anywhere in New Hampshire, freshwater or saltwater without a fishing license.

This should be a fun time. Several years ago, I went on a tour of the salmon fishery in Orland, Maine.  It was well worth the time. I highly recommend taking advantage of the open houses.

All other fishing regulations must be followed on Free Fishing Day, including season dates and bag limits. Plan to stop in and visit one of New Hampshire's six state-operated trout hatcheries.  Also on June 7,  try the latest gear, lures, flies, rods and kayaks at the Free New England Demo Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Contoocook River Canoe Company, 9 Horse Hill Road in Concord, N.H. Fish and Game biologists will be on hand to help you discover that hot fishing spot near you.
