Liam Neeson is to director Jaume Collet-Serra what Leonardo DiCaprio is to Martin Scorsese. Neeson has become the action-dad-icon muse for Collet-Serra, who has just cast the leading man in yet another action film. The Commuter marks the fourth collaboration between Neeson and Collet-Serra, following Unknown, Non-Stop and Run All Night — all of which form a sort of informal trilogy of films in which Neeson plays a man burdened by his past who battles criminal elements while rocking a seriously sweet leather jacket.

Deadline reports that Neeson has signed on to star in The Commuter, which casts him as a businessman who finds himself unwittingly drawn into the center of a criminal conspiracy on a commuter train, forcing him to take action. It’s not as if Liam Neeson is just going to sit by on a bus or a train or a plane while some serious criminals terrorize innocent people. As long as he’s got a leather jacket and a cell phone, he’s ready to kick some ass.

Neeson appears next in Martin Scorsese’s long-awaited passion project Silence, and voices the titular monster in the fantasy film A Monster Calls, both of which hit theaters this fall. He’s also attached to star in Felt, a new drama-thriller in which he plays Mark Felt, aka Deep Throat, the man who helped uncover the Watergate Scandal.

As for Serra, his next project is The Shallows, a film that surprisingly doesn’t feature Liam Neeson at all (that we know of). The simple thriller stars Blake Lively as a woman stranded in the ocean, with a great white shark circling between her and the shore. That movie hits theaters on June 24.
