Living here is such a gift being surrounded by nature and wildlife. It isn't uncommon for many of us to see a group of wild turkeys walking across down the street one day or a deer in the backyard the next. A reminder that wherever we live in Maine, we're close to the woods filled with wonderful creatures.

The best place to see our wild neighbors all in one spot is the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray.  This isn't a zoo, it's a special sanctuary run by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

According to their website,

"IF&W has placed a greater emphasis on education about wildlife and natural habitats in recent years, and has sought ways to incorporate wildlife management and conservation education learning opportunities into the exhibits, displays, and programs offered at the Wildlife Park."

And now that November is here, there are only a few days left to get there and enjoy this magical place. The park will be closing for the season Veteran's Day weekend.

Here's the official announcement from their Facebook page.

We're so lucky to be able to see everything from moose and black bears, to fish, birds and more in an environment as close to their natural habitat as can be.

The park is also hosted by experts that are happy to answer any questions you might have about the great outdoors in Maine and where all the wild things are.
