Looking to better the life of a Maine foster child?  Your help is needed.  Volunteers from a variety of backgrounds can be trained to make a life changing difference in a child's life.  Explore Maine CASA. Maine CASA provides volunteer advocates for abused, neglected, or abandoned children when the state has requested court intervention because their parents are not able to care for them. These children are part of the Maine’s child welfare system. The CASA volunteer is a responsible caring adult and advocate for the child while their parents’ case moves through the child welfare system. The CASA volunteer builds a relationship with a child.  During a child protection case, the CASA is one of the few consistent adults in the child’s life and for that reason the volunteer advocate’s recommendations to the court are very important.Think about becoming a volunteer. The next CASA Volunteer Training will be held March 4-7th, 2014 in Augusta. Contact them at (207) 287-5403. Program Manager, Elizabeth Mccullum joined me in the studio. Listen Here:
