Did you know that one of the earliest players for the Boston Red Sox was a Mainer? According to Wikipedia, Harry Lord was a member of the founding team of the Boston Red Sox in 1908. Lord, born in Porter, Maine, was a third baseman. Interestingly, not many baseball players from Maine made it to the big leagues, primarily because of the long winters, and short baseball seasons. But Lord had a good run in the major leagues, playing from 1907 to 1915.

According to WMTW, Saco River Auction Company is hosting an auction with over 400 rare pieces of baseball memorabilia, including a photo that includes Harry Lord.
