Local Magazine Celebrating 60 Years by Giving Back to Community [Audio/Photos]

Down East magazine has been part of New England for 60 years.  They're celebrating the big birthday with the Art of Giving Gala by giving away $60,000 worth of art by Angela Adams, William Wegman, Eric Hopkins and other notable New England artists.

The gala is planned for Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Portland Company Complex, 58 Fore Street, Portland. The gala will have tons of food from local food artisans, meet the artists, music and more.  Each artist has selected a charity for funds to go to from the gala. Angela Adams who joined the 94.9 HOM Morning Show along with Down East Editor in Chief, Kathleen Fleury chose The Locker Project.
