Lighthouses Open Across Maine on Saturday

Maine Open Lighthouse Day is this weekend.  This is a rare opportunity to view the inside of lighthouses across the state.

Lighthouses will be open from 9-3 on Saturday, September 13, 2014. Some lighthouses are land based and are easy to get to.  Other lighthouses can only be accessed by water.  Some lighthouses have special boat runs and reservations are needed.  Portland Head Light is allowing only 280 visitors who must be a minimum of 48 inches tall. So, check ahead for any special restrictions.  The listing of openings can be found on the Lighthouse Foundation website.
