With the beginning of the school year fast approaching, it got me thinking about cursive writing, and whether or not it should still be taught.

I can't tell you the last time I used cursive writing for something. In fact, I'm not even sure if I could write a sentence in cursive today if I tried. Handwriting in general has mostly been replaced by typing at this point.

But isn't it a skill that we should probably hang on to? After all, if we're not teaching our children cursive writing, how are they going to sign their names on legal documents? What will happen in the future when you meet someone famous and ask for their autograph? Will they simply print their name for you? That's no fun!
