Have you ever heard Aesop's Fable of the city mouse and the country mouse? That's me… I'm the city mouse… except in my case, the city mouse ventures into the scary woods of a small town in Maine. Don't get me wrong: It was pretty out there, but it's just not for me. Here's why I should never go again.:

(1) I didn't wear the proper shoes. Mud boots or hiking shoes would have been the number one choice for a smart Mainer, but the dumb city girl wore her brand new, white Adidas sneakers that she got for her birthday. Now, they have mud caked on them.

(2) It's dark and my city eyes had trouble adjusting. In fact, I couldn't see at all. Thank goodness I had the flashlight app on my cell phone to guide me.

(3) I could get lost. I'm already directionally challenged, as it is. In the woods, everything looks the same, so there are no landmarks to get me back on track. And no, I don't know how to use a compass.

Seriously though, it was an adventure and it's good for me to experience life outside of my comfort zone once in a while. Just not anytime soon.
