Guardians of the Galaxy’s Rocket Raccoon Creator Tragedy Not Forgotten

It starts as a story of great tragedy when co-creator of Rocket Raccoon, Bill Mantlo is hit by a car and left with brain damage. He has been living in a health care facility since 1992. What Marvel Comics did is truly awesome.

Rocket Raccoon is one of the super stars of the new hit movie, Guardians of the Galaxy. The rambunctious wise-cracking raccoon was voiced by Bradley Cooper. Marvel and Disney didn't forget Bill even though he has been unable to work since the hit & run accident over 20 years ago. They arranged for Bill to have a private screening at his health care facility. It took much wrangling with legal and security issues, but they got it done.

Bill's brother, Michael posted on Facebook, " Giving Bill this opportunity was a daunting challenge (with all the legal & security protocols that needed to be breached), but these two FINE MEN made it happen, and Bill had the HAPPIEST DAY OF HIS LIFE! I will NEVER be able to thank them enough for all that they have done for Bill!" It took some work but they brought joy into this man's life!
