Stacie Hutchinson, local publisher of Macaroni Kids, joined us in the HOM studio the other day to let us know about some fun, family friendly activities happening in the area this week. Here are a few:

1st Annual Cardboard Boat Race

Ahoy Mates! Are you ready to bring out your inner Pirate? Are you ready to test your boat building skills? If you are, the Bridgton Lions Club invites you to enter their 1st Annual Cardboard Boat Race. That's right, cardboard boats. The theme of the race is Pirate Ships. . Registration is at 10 AM and the races start at noon. Each boat will be timed on the race course.Prizes for “Best Theme", “Best Visually Appealing Boat" and “Fastest Course Time Without Sinking" will be awarded in each participant category. Where: Race day is July 2nd (rain date July 3rd) at the Highland Lake town beach in Bridgton
When: 10:00 AM
Who: There are two categories of participants, “Teens" ages 12 – 17 and “Adults" ages 18 & up.
How: Entry forms must be received by June 25, 2016 - enter now and start designing your Pirate Ship.

Watch Wildlife Eat

Visitors to Maine Wildlife Park always want to know what our wildlife eats & when. Today, we will post hourly feeding times starting at 10 a.m. Continuing throughout the day, watch the bears, big cats, eagles, foxes, small mammals, coyote & moose munch on their lunch.
Where: Maine Wildlife Park in Gray

Popsicle Party with Slugger the Sea Dog

Thursday, July 7

This program will be held at the Windham Middle School. Windham Public Library and Windham Parks and Recreation will welcome Slugger the Sea Dog, mascot for Portland's AAA baseball team. Slugger will be available to take pictures, high five and hang out with kids while they enjoy a cool popsicle treat.
Where: Windham Middle School Gym
When: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Who: Open to all ages
How: Just show up!
