Since my Grandmother has been at a rehab center in Portland, I have driven by this cute little wooden box house at least fifteen times wondering what it is. Well I finally found out...

While driving down Providence St in Portland on my way to The Cedars to visit my Grandmother, I spotted the cutest box. It's nestled on the front lawn of a home and at first glance, I thought it was a mailbox. At closer inspection I noticed it's filled with books.

It's "The Little Free Library" and there's a wide selection of books from James Patterson and Dr. Wayne Dyer to children's books. You simply bring a book you've already read, open the unlocked door and replace your old book with a new one.

It turns out there are several of these throughout the country and in Maine. There are even directions on how to make one of your own. What a great way to get to know your neighbors and share the joy of reading.
