I am an avocado enthusiast. They are made up of healthy fats, essential nutrients and are great for your skin. What's not to love? I try to incorporate a little avocado into each day if I can. Here are some fun things I like to do with these tasty fruits.

1) Whip up some Guacomole

I don't mean to toot the old horn but I make a mean guacomole. I try not to over complicate my recipe. Just a few avocados, fresh lime juice, salt, pepper and a dash of mild salsa and you are good to go. Sometimes if I'm feeling spicy I will chop up some fresh jalepenos and toss them in. It's a real crowd pleaser :)

2) Bake an egg inside one

This is a healthy nutritious breakfast and the best part? It's easy to make! All you have to do is preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Cut an avocado in half and scoop out maybe two spoonfuls of the flesh and crack the eggs inside. Then bake the eggs for 15 to 20 minutes and voila! 3) Make a face mask

So I know this sounds strange but I love applying avocado to my face once in awhile. It just pumps hydration into my skin. The mask I like to make is made up of avocado, plain organic yogurt and a little bit of honey. And the best part? You get to eat it when you are done! (Just kidding! Kind of..) Just a suggestion, you might want to warn your significant other before you put one of these masks on. Or else they might come home from work and be terrified because you look like you turned into the wicked witch of the west. You've been warned. Other avocado face mask recipes can be found here. 

4) Make a chilled avocado soup

I am someone who loves soups but sometimes on a hot Summer day a cup of steaming hot chowdah is not what the heart wants. This chilled soup is so easy to make and refreshing to boot. You basically need 3 avocados some chicken broth and various spices. Throw it all in a blender and call it a day! Here is the full recipe if you want to get technical. :)

5) Make a smoothie

I went through a serious smoothie phase and of course most of my concoctions involved avocado in some way because I am obsessed. My favorite creation featuring avocado is a blueberry, spinach and avocado smoothie! It is of course exactly what it sounds like plus some orange juice, ice cubes and I usually throw a banana in there for good measure. It's delish!

So much avocado fun, so little time. Thankfully those suckers are in peak season right now so scoop some up from your local farmers market today and have a ball!
