Captain Jeffrey Benner is a fireman in Rockford who happened to be in the right place at the right time to rescue a terminally-ill woman from a fire. WMTW says Benner was off duty and driving down the road when he saw the smoke and flames at 94 Mount Vernon Avenue in Augusta, Maine. He pulled over and did what firemen do -- save lives. Benner rescued a terminally-ill woman, Judy Armstrong, and her boyfriend, along with her oxygen tank and family pets. He then stuck around to help the fire crews when the arrived.

According to WMTW, Benner said he wasn't a hero; he was just doing his job.
