Baseball legend Don Zimmer died Wednesday at the age of 83.

Affectionately nicknamed “The Gerbil,” Zimmer spent more than 66 years in Major League Baseball, earning six World Series rings as a player and YANKEES coach. He’ll be remembered most for his colorful personality, passion for the game and attempting to put Pedro Martinez in a figure 4 headlock. (see video below)

He coached several teams following his playing days, even serving as manager of the San Diego Padres (1972–1973), Boston Red Sox (1976–1980), Texas Rangers (1981–1982) and Cubs (1988–1991).

Around New England he will always be know for going after Pedro Martinez in a 2003 playoff game vs the Yanks.

After a close pitch from Martinez to Karim Garcia, Manny Ramirez takes exception to a Roger Clemens pitch and benches clear. Don Zimmer winds up..well,…you’ll see-
