The only time I think about reindeer is at Christmas time. For these Russian herders, reindeer are a way of life.

Herders in the village of Krasnoye try to maintain the local reindeer population at around 15,000-17,000 animals.

And just like many Americans who like to eat venison, reindeer meat is enjoyed by the locals and exported around the world. Antlers and reindeer hides are also big business.
