When you think of a castle, and, it's location; it's usually in England or Ireland. But, there IS a castle right in the middle of Portland, Maine. It's the castle in Deering Oaks Park. It was built in 1894 as a hut to keep ice skaters warm. The castle has been sitting vacant for quite awhile, and soon, it could be open for business.

WGME Channel 13 reported that the castle is in development to become coffee shop in Deering Oak Park. The city of Portland is in final negotiations with the owners of the restaurant Tiqa to use the castle as a new cafe. They hope to have the plans done in time for an approval by the City Council April 4th. If the castle cafe is approved, they plan on an opening date in May.
