At the end of August, one of the largest cruise ships in the world docked in Portland and unleashed 5,000 plus visitors onto our city's streets. On Labor Day Weekend, another massive ship entered Casco Bay, taking over the views from the East End with it's astonishing size. The Grandeur of the Seas sailed away on Sunday (September 4) but not before I snapped some up close and personal photos of the impressive passenger cruise liner.

Upon approaching the cruise ship on a smaller fishing boat, I was overwhelmed by his height. The photos hardly do it justice.

The Royal Caribbean website says, "The newly revitalized ship sails from Baltimore with itineraries in the Bahamas, Bermuda, Caribbean, Canada and New England."

The ship is 916 feet long -- that's more than 20 school buses! It carries just under 2,500 passengers and a crew of 760.

Did you see one of the massive cruise ships in Portland?
